STEM refers to the disciplines of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. STEM education provides opportunities to engage students in deep learning using real-world application of content to solve problems. At O’Loughlin Catholic College, Year 9 students in their Science, Mathematics and Design & Technology lessons have investigated various flora and fauna in the Top End. The flora and fauna found in the Northern Territory are unique and diverse. Detailed descriptions and distribution maps, combined with graphics designed by students, provide users with a valuable resource. The app holds information for over 35 species of plants and animals found in your garden or in the bush, encompassing birds, frogs, lizards, snakes, mammals, grasses, weeds and flowers. Our students plan to continue adding additional species and refining descriptions over time.
